Why Does Yorgos Lanthimos Write Weird Characters?
Ending got more chuckles out of me than many a comedy, bravo.
I’m so sad that no one has seen Blackberry, being underperformed by Nike, and to some extent Tetris with Cheetos
Tarantino made a really bad technical choise by filming H8 in Ultra Panavision 70. He should have used TODD-AO instead, with spherical lenses. All Italian westerns used spherical lenses starting with "A Fistful Of Dollars", this made a high depth of field possible and image compositions with sharp foreground and background elements. That is a trademark of Italian westerns. And obviously H8 suffers from a lack of depth of field in a lot of shots as it takes place in small room, that anamorphotic lenses weren't designed to capture.
wow. I'm so glad I found this. He was incredible, and so is this interview. Really interesting guy.
No way that isn't rotoscoped
The pretentiousness of this video is staggering.
Went to see it yesterday. One of Cronenmberg's worst films. Badly shot, badly directed, bad script. Cool concept.
Think it's quite funny she talks about all the technical limitations of the past when most typography choices these days are super boring and basic.
You feel tired, sawing me, I'm right,
Relationship..between. food and Relation..reacted by birth....it's true
Just for Mona Lisa Bob Hoskins has always been my favorite actor.
.. on the world to change
You missed a trick by not calling this video (which is genuinely great btw) ‘Type Casting.’ 😁
👏👏👏 (and thank you!)
Lovely work
thank you - thats' good to hear from someone who's into fonts!
I’m so grateful that I am able to listen to this while in my own teenage bedroom. Hearing things described and then seeing them for myself if my own space is really cool.
This is more dessert scenes than cakes.
Love this...thanks Marie.
Who else paused at 9:21 to see how many you could identify?
how many did you get?!
I did, but I’m confused on the A, D, and O. I think A is from the first Avengers but it looks slightly different, the D looks like the Into the Spider-verse but is the wrong color, and the O looks like a cross between Transformers and Robocop, but not quite either. All the others are pretty obvious but these three confused me. What’re anyone else’s thoughts?
@@jonathanjohnson5994 D has to be from "Across the spider verse." Letter is the same shape, colors are slightly off, but it's still red and blue. White highlights are stronger here.
@@jonathanjohnson5994So it looks like they took "D" from some different version of the poster. And L is "the lord of the rings" but that's not how L looks on official LOTR movie posters.
0:18 song?
My favourite director
Good point about movie title being the first movie character we see and about the absence of title in modern movies. Brilliant thoughts!
Which is better? Is that a question? The Americans demolished a great piece of art.
What is that movie where mr Waits is in jail?I need to watch it😊😊!!
I know everyone here will hate me for saying this, but I quite enjoyed the remake. I liked the overly dramatic tone and laughably predictable happy ending even. I can't say it is a better film overall than the original of course, but I quite enjoyed it all the same. I view the films as two entirely different genres with different messages and personalities, just wearing similar plot lines. I like them both equally but they really don't compare to one another.
Throughout the filming of "The Giant Claw" the actors never actually got to see the monster. When they finally saw it in the film, many walked out of the premier, disgruntled. They were told it'd be something like Rodan, rather than the cheap type of puppet you pick up at a roadside souvenir stand.
I hate to say this, but I so much prefer the original La Jetee over the Twelve Monkeys movie OR TV series. This was just so straightforward, and it's just long enough to make its point. Plus, it's just such an incredible experience. This was classy; the movie was action adventure stretched too long, and I just could not get into it.
Saving for later just because title and thumbnail is so good 👍
Ive been waiting since 2006!

12:05 was already an existing font before Poor Things. I used it in a short film back in 2014.
it's lettering, not the ms word font
@@AugustRx I don’t think that font has anything to do with word (could be wrong though)
Papyrus.
Not only did I immediately think of that, I paused this video to watch, then came back. GMTA. EDIT: oh jeez, then right after I typed this, they referenced it. GMRTA.
You make great videos. Huge fan :)
very much appreciated, thanks!
Wonderfully researched and put together video. Brilliant
thank you, great to hear you enjoyed it!
Yeah, God bless you BOB
Watched this on Friday night hadn't seen it for ages. Brilliant film, Brilliant music

spoorloos is perfect..dont think about current technology etc..its totally effect in 80's and you re feeling so much nervous without violence...even spoorloos means : without trace in dutch ..
Holy c*** I didn't know this came out of
It's 2024 and I still have Dreams about Clarence Worley
This was common in the USA in films like Thief, One From The Heart, Blade Runner, etc - they never got grouped together as a subgenre or movement at the time. People now in more recent reviews try to call it neon noir.
jude law is disgusting. alain delon is infintely more attractive
Jack Nicholson was so handsome and talent long before Keanu and Johnny.
Is it a real question ? I saw both movies and decades later, Spoorloos still fuels my thoughts about mankind. I barely remember its remake. (beside, I like Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu).
The original is a masterpiece, for many reasons. I’ve not watched the remake but after watching this I certainly don’t need to! It appears to be the epitome of ‘missing the point’. What is wrong with Hollywood?..
Kaurismaki is one of my favorites. Like many in the United States, I first saw "Go America" . I think for those in the USA, that or his music video for " Through the Wire" is a great place to start appreciating his genius.
0:28 I’M THE ELDEST BOY
Only alain delon ❤️
Love you big bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥
i was very sad when Mr Hoskins was taken away . always amazing, you are missed RIP
